Cam Newton Gets Released By the Patriots

This seems to be a shocker just as some NFL teams are wrapping up their pre-season games. The New England Patriots today announced they decided to let Cam Newton go, according to TMZ. Yes, the team cut the veteran quarterback. Cam did sign a 1-year, $5.1 million contract this offseason to play for the Patriots and it seemed as if he would begin as QB for the season. But it looks like the team will now lean on rookie Mac Jones to start the season. Cam doesn't want his fans to feel sorry for him. He posted on his IG story, "I really appreciate all the love and support during this time, but I must say ... please don't feel sorry for me!! I'm good." We will see what's next for the vet.
