WHY WE STRUT
Did you know that African American women have a 41% higher death rate from breast cancer than white women and are more likely to be diagnosed before age 40? Among Hispanic women, breast cancer will be the leading cause of cancer death (16%), followed by cancers of the lung (13%) and colorectum (9%). That needs to change! Get involved with the Sista Strut and make a difference!
About Our Charity Partner: The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is the first and largest cancer research organization dedicated to accelerating the conquest of cancer through research, education, communication, collaboration, science policy, advocacy, and funding for cancer research. AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) is a group committed to eliminating inequalities in cancer research, treatment, and medical accessibility; increasing the representation of minorities in cancer research; and advancing careers of racially and ethnically diverse cancer researchers.
The goal of Sista Strut is to heighten awareness about the issues of breast cancer in women of color, as well as provide information on community resources. Sista Strut recognizes the strength of survivors, their family and friends, heightens awareness, promotes early detection and the search for a cure.
The registration fees for Sista Strut are:
$20 per individual through 5/31/2023
$25 per individual through 6/14/2023
Registration Fee this year includes Sista Strut T-shirt. Please note that shirts will be issued in relation to your requested size. While we will do our best to accommodate everyone with the size that fits best, we must try to go by your requested size to try and ensure that everyone receives what they requested.
If you are choosing to pay via Money Order, the above registration fees and dates still stand. You will be able to bring your money order to one of our pick up opportunities to receive your tshirt. Please note that we will not be able to release your shirt to you or someone else you designate until we receive your money order. Please be sure that all money orders are made out to iHeartMedia Philadelphia.
We will update this section with information regarding shirt pickup opportunities. If you opted for the Pay Later option, you will need to bring a money order with yo to a pickup location to pick up your shirt. Please be sure to make all money orders out to iHeartMedia Philadelphia.
Please note that we are unable to mail shirts – they will need to be picked up either during a pick up opportunity or on the morning of the event.
You may pick up for multiple people – please have a printed or digital copy of the confirmation of who you are picking up for so there is no confusion. Please note if you are planning to pick up for someone that chose the Pay Later option, we will not be able to release their shirt until payment is received.
Shirts sizes are *requested* we will try our best to fulfill all requests, but due to increased registration, we have had to estimate some sizes to get shirts in time.
