Philly Ends Its Partnership With Philly Fighting Covid

The City of Philadelphia has severed its ties with Philly Fighting COVID. The organization was posted up inside of the Convention Center to give COVID-19 tests and more recently, distribute the vaccines to people. At the end of last week, Philly made the announcement they would start their own website where people could sign up and find out when the vaccine would be available to them. It would confuse some people as some were already signed up with Philly Fighting COVID. However, according to 6ABC, the health department cites Philly Fighting COVID's change in corporate status as the reason for the end in partnership, saying Philly Fighting COVID went from non-profit to for-profit and "PFC updated its data privacy policy in a way that could allow the organization to sell data collected through PFC's pre-registration site," said Jame Garrow, a spokesperson for the health department. The problem is that PFC made the changes without a conversation with the city. The city has stopped providing the tests and the vaccine to PFC. As for people who have received their first dose and not sure what to do now, the city has their information and will reach out to them on where they may now go for their second doses. The City of Philadelphia strongly recommends that people who want to get the vaccination, they can get information from the portal https://www.phila.gov/vaccineinterest.
