Congressman John Lewis Makes Final Crossing On Pettus Bridge

Civil rights activists and Congressman John Lewis will be laid to rest on Thursday in Atlanta. He died on July 17 after battling pancreatic cancer. People were able to see his memorial procession as the activist had a final goodbye over the bridge that had a controversial meaning in Lewis' life. The icon who helped changed America and helped fight for our rights, was taken over the Edmund Pettus Bridge for the final time as his casket was lead was lead by horses over the bridge. That was the same bridge in Selma, Alabama where Lewis suffered a fractured skull by cops while protesting for voting rights in 1965. According to TMZ, Lewis would make frequent visits to that notorious bridge, that was named after a member of the KKK, to mark the anniversary of that moment in his life. But the procession was definitely symbolic of what Lewis stood for. His body will lie at the Capitol until Thursday.
