Well that was pretty quick. Just days ago, I told you that Capitol Records was being different because they decided to sign a virtual rapper, FN Meka. We're not too sure how this would play out, for instance, would it be for the Metaverse or what? One thing we do know is that it was a game changer but also, it could put a lot of rappers out of business, although the character was voiced by a human, Factory New co-founder Anthony Martini said that FN Meka'slyrics and song structures came from AI, according to Pitchfork. Did we mention Martini is also a white man? People aren't letting this robot mess with their intelligence. People are questioning things, for instance, why is this robot using the N word? And some things the robot would do could be stereotypical as well. Well, today, we hear Capitol Records had decided to severe their ties with FN Meka, immediately over backlash. I guess no one there had a round table discussion about the idea from jump. In a statement, Capitol said, "We offer our deepest apologies to the Black community for our insensitivity in signing this project without asking enough questions about equity and the creative process behind it. We thank those who have reached out to us with constructive feedback in the past couple of days-your input was invaluable as we came to the decision to end our association with the project.” And if this was a publicity stunt, well, it seems like it wasn't that good.
