Mayor Jim Kenney Has Signed Philly's Driving Equality Bill

Everyone has heard the term "driving while black." Well, in Philly, that shouldn't be an issue, but we will see. With everything that happened in protests last year with police brutality and the idea of police reform, Mayor Jim Kenney's officially signed the Driving Equality bill into law on Wednesday. According to the Philly Tribune, the bill seeks to address the tension between police and community members by removing the negative interactions of minor traffic stops. Basically, it will ban police from pulling over drivers for low-level traffic violations, like having a broken tail lights or even damaged bumpers. Philly is now the first big city in the country to have this bill in place. Mayor Kenney is hoping this bill will prevent racial discrimination during traffic stops. The new law will take effect in 120 days. Do you think this will work?
