Simone Biles Withdraws From All-Around Final in Tokyo Olympics

Earlier this week, Simone Biles decided to withdraw from the team final competition for the Tokyo Olympics. It was said she made the decision due to a medical issue, which, we learned was her mental health. Well after that shocking news, on Wednesday morning, Simone has made the decision to withdraw from from all-around final in the Olympics. Our girl said she has to be 100% and she hasn't been feeling that way. Initially, according to ESPN, Simone said she will take Wednesday as "a mental rest day" and then make a decision on the rest of the Games. "We're going to see about Thursday," she said in reference to the individual all-around final. This is the second competition she decided to withdraw from, in less than 24 hours. Simone said she is putting her mental health first, protecting her mind and her body. But there is also next week and she will be monitored to see how she feels. Simone still has the opportunity to compete in other individual events during the remainder of the Games, having qualified for individual finals in each apparatus: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise, according to CNN. As I said yesterday, athletes have a lot of pressure put on them and after a while, it can weigh heavy. Regardless, we are proud of Simone for what she has already accomplished becoming a 4-time gold medalist, and for realizing she needs to take time for herself to become a better person.
