Daniel Kaluuya and Jamie Foxx Win At Oscars, Tyler Perry Gets High Honor

So the Academy Awards went down on Sunday night. Although I missed the majority of the show, it was good to hear there was some diversity in this year's winners. But, there were definitely some actors who were snubbed from the show. However, Jamie Foxx made history. The animated film Soul won the Oscar for Best Animated Film, which made Jamie Foxx the first leading Black Actor to win for an animated film. And I was hoping for this win for Daniel Kaluuya who starred in Judas and the Black Messiah. He won the for best supporting actor for his role as Fred Hampton. And let's not forget Tyler Perry who gave a thought provoking speech when he received the high honor and got the Humanitarian Award. However, Viola Davis and Andra Day were nominated for their roles in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Billie Holiday vs. The United States, respectively. Even at the end of the evening, everyone was surprised to hear Anthony Hopkins win Best actor for his role in the movie, The Father. The late Chadwick Boseman received a nod in that category as well. And although he didn't win, which stunned everyone, Hopkins did pay a beautiful tribute to Boseman. Check out a full list of winners here.
