Atlanta rapper, Killer Mike is all about giving to his community and finding ways to help the black community build financial wealth. There was a series he did on a streaming service where he would chose to use everything black, such as buying from a black grocer, using a black-owned cell phone company and more. And now, Killer Mike has started something big, a digital black-owned bank. According to Hip Hop Wired, he started Greenwood with his close friend and Bounce TV founder, Ryan Glover. Even Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young is a part of the leadership team for Greenwood. They launched the digital bank after raising more than $3 million in seed funding in June. Yes! And the crazy thing is that the bank doesn't open until January, but the website was launched and there is already a long waiting list of people. The idea is to spend black dollars in black communities and in case you're wondering, Greenwood's initial products are savings and spending accounts but they will have other things on the table as well. Kudos, Killer Mike!
