Although people are doing the quarantine thing, some prisons are releasing inmates amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, there are still many prisoners in the system and the worry is that many of them can get the illness. Think about it, a lot of these guards go home and come in to the prisons. There is room to spread the virus. Meek Mill and Jay-Z are making sure those prisoners are not forgotten in these crazy times. According to Hip Hop Wired, last week The REFORM Alliance announced Jay and Meek partnered up with New York Times best selling author Shaka Senghor to donate 100,000 surgical masks to prisons across the United States to help the inmates, correctional officers and healthcare workers. Many of the masks will go to Rikers Island in New York, where NY is the epicenter of the virus and Ross MacDonald, chief medical officer of New York City’s correctional health services, has called the spread of the virus in Rikers "a public health disaster unfolding before our eyes." It's good to see people looking out for the people in the system as well.
