I was driving home on Sunday afternoon when my husband texted me saying Kobe Bryant was dead. I didn't know what to think at that point. As I got home, I jumped on social media and checked the news only to see that the news was confirmed. The former basketball player was killed in a helicopter crash. The helicopter flew into a mountain after the pilot had been circling in foggy weather for about 15 minutes. On the flight, there were 8 other people, one including his 13-year-old, Gianna, according to TMZ. It was definitely a tragedy. I don't need to say everything Kobe has done in the league, but although I wasn't a hardcore fan, you have to appreciate his athleticism, his game, his skills, the rings he got with his team and the love he had for his family. That man had a goal and made it happen, having been a fan of the Lakers and able to play for them for most of his career. The world has lost a young legend. And it saddens me to know his wife, family and friends are hurting. Vanessa not only has to bury one loved on, but her baby as well. Let's not forget the others who lost their lives on the plane as well. They all have names, John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah Chester, Payton Chester, Christina Mauser and the pilot, Ara Zobayan, according to TMZ. May they all rest in peace and keep your prayers up for their families.
