Two years of legal battles between Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have come to an end with both sides reaching a settlement.
Disney and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, a body which was created by DeSantis to govern the special tax district Disney is located in, approved the settlement today (Wednesday). The conflict between Disney, Florida's largest employer, and DeSantis began in 2022 when the governor asked Florida’s legislature to terminate the longstanding special privileges granted to Disney in Central Florida more than 50 years ago. Disney accused DeSantis of retaliating against the company after it spoke out publicly against Florida's so-called "Don't Say Gay" law.
Under the settlement agreement, both sides have dropped all pending lawsuits filed against each other and agree to settle all disagreements out of court. (Tallahassee Democrat)
