Next school year, high schools in the Philadelphia School District will be starting later in the morning. Instead of 7:30 as a start time for some schools, next year, kids will be starting school at 9 a.m., according to NBC 10. It's kind of strange to make such a move when the current superintendent is about to step down from the position. But if you're wondering what's the advantage of making high school students start later, it's to help the students be well rested and ready to learn. In a letter to school staff, the district also explained it will help make travel safer in the morning and afternoon. There will be about 51 schools that will now start at 9 a.m. including those with middle grades. The district is following research from the CDC about kids being more alert when they don't have to be up so early to start school. What do you think about this new schedule?
