Jay-Z is Headed to Court Over "Reasonable Doubt" Cover Art

Jay-Z is not playing. Back in the summer of last year, 2021, Jay filed a lawsuit against the photographer who shot the picture for as the cover art for his "Reasonable Doubt" album. The photographer, Johnathan Mannion was basically using Jay's likeness for his own website and business and you guessed it, he didn't get Jay's permission. Of course the album came out back in 1996 but with the success of Jay's career, Mannion may have felt comfortable trying to use Jay's image, making thousands. Citing the First Amendment and the Copyright Act, Mannion claimed Jay and his team were being presumptive: "(This is a) vitriolic complaint filled with false insinuations of exploitation.” Jay and Mannion met up early January to reach a settlement but nothing came from that meeting. So now the case will head to trial this summer to get things handled, according to Hot New Hip Hop.
