Juice WRLD sprouts angel wings in a new music video with The Weeknd.
On Tuesday (August 11), the late Chicago rapper received the animation treatment in the visual for “Smile,” a posthumous collaboration featuring the Canadian crooner.
The ethereal video sees Juice walking through a field of flowers as butterflies flutter around him and comets come blazing across the sky as he sings of wanting to make his beloved happy, even if it becomes the death of him. Other scenes show Juice’s lover mourning his memory while looking through old Kodaks of them in bed, whereas The Weeknd survives a car crash elsewhere before taking off in another vehicle.
Juice’s spirit finally appears to his girlfriend as quickly as it fades only for the lyricist to return as an angel outside her bedroom. After the credits roll, Juice’s animated form comes back with an eerie Instagram Live from heaven.
As fans know, the “Lucid Dreams” artist died in December 2019 of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 21. Juice's first posthumous album, Legends Never Die, released several months after his passing, on July 10. The record was a massive success, having not only debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, but also garnering one of the biggest releases of the year by selling 497,000 equivalent album units in the United States in its first week.
