LHHATL Star Erica Mena Catches Heat For Calling Co-Star Spice 'A Monkey'
Many people are discussing about a contentious Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta episode online. Spice and Erica Mena's altercation on the broadcast set the internet on fire.
Spice revealed to Erica Mena during an on-air argument that her kid dislikes his own mother. Mena flipped over a table in response to the blue-haired Jamaican dancehall performer's remark.
Shekinah Jo, a co-star on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, also tried to urge the ladies to stop fighting as security guards tried to break up the altercation. Then, Mena, who is of Puerto Rican and Dominican origin, insulted Spice in a racist manner.
Mena said, "That b#### shouldâve died!"
Spice replied, "Your son hates you, b####!"
Mena added, "You monkey, you f###### blue monkey!"
Numerous internet users made the point that calling a Black person a "monkey" has a long history of being associated with racism and has led to previous celebrities losing their jobs. For instance, ABC fired Roseanne Barr in 2018 for calling Valerie Jarrett, a former official in the United States government, "planet of the apes."Â
