Jack Harlow "First Class" Hits No. 1, Sparks Race Debate in Hip Hop

  • Jack Harlow’s position at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart has brought back an age-old debate, What if Harlow was Black, would he be as successful?
  • TDE President, Terrence "Punch" Henderson doesn’t think so and he sounded off on Twitter about it. Henderson pondered why Black artists who are exceptional don’t get the same acclaim as other artists who give a C+ effort.
  • While he didn’t call Harlow by name, fans got his point. Henderson pointed to Kendrick Lamar who missed getting the 2014 Grammy for "Good kid, m.A.A.d. City" losing to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “The Heist” album.
  • Despite the debate, Jack Harlow is on top of his game with his album, "Come Home the Kids Miss You" dropping on May 6th. He’s also starring in the reboot of “White Men Can’t Jump,” and just completed work on a KFC Campaign benefiting several social justice and youth groups.
