Remy Ma is kicking off Women's History Month by changing up battle rap culture as we know it. Women usually don't get the chance to show off their skills and earn the respect they deserve in battle rapping. That's why Remy launched Chrome 23, an all-female battle rap league. The league is named after the pair of chromosomes that determine your sex. The show premiered Sunday on its official website and on YouTube. Contestants included O’fficial, Casey Jay, 40 Barrs, Ms. Hustle, OB Black Diamond, Pristavia, Couture and Yoshi G. You can watch the show and vote for your favorite of each match on the website. Remy hopes the league will generate more income for women. "The pay gap is ridiculous. It’s actually insulting… I’m used to seeing it now at this point in my life, but in this particular instance [the difference in pay is] disrespectful… Some of the highest-paid females barely crack $10,000 per battle whereas some of the highest men could possibly get $100,000 per battle.” Despite some old beef with Remy, Lady Luck was among the supporters at the premiere to cheer on the all-female movement. The issues between the two rappers seems to have subsided after both were featured on the Bacon Egg N Cheese show on Instagram. (HipHopDX)
