Sarah Dash Dies: Groundbreaking ‘Lady Marmalade’ Singer, LaBelle Co-Founder

LaBelle co-founder, Sarah Dash, has passed away at the age of 76.
The singer was honored by Trenton, New Jersey mayor Reed Gusciora, with a statement that offered condolences to Dash’s family and friends and a vow to keep Dash’s memory and music alive in Trenton forever.
Pattie LaBelle gave a statement to the New York Daily News saying,“We were just on stage together on Saturday and it was such a powerful and special moment. Sarah Dash was an awesomely talented, beautiful, and loving soul who blessed my life and the lives of so many others in more ways than I can say.”
Dash sang with LaBelle members, Patti and Nona Hendryx on many iconic LaBelle songs including the original 1974 “Lady Marmalade” song. LaBelle was the first group to play the Metropolitan Opera House and the first Black group to grace the cover of Rolling Stone.
Sarah Dash’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
