The 2001 Antoine Fuqua-directed film Training Day starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke might be getting a prequel. The prequel will reportedly pick up around the time of the L.A. Riots that followed after the infamous Rodney King verdict. The prequel will follow a younger version of Alonzo Harris, a role that gave Washington a Best Actor Oscar win. Hawke was also nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film, which grossed more than $100 million worldwide. There’s no word on if anyone involved with the original film will work on the sequel. Collider was first to report news of the prequel.
