Tyler Perry hosted the grand opening gala for his new historic 330-acre state of the art studio in Atlanta over the weekend. The site features a dozen soundstages named after black icons in Hollywood. Perry is the creative force behind 22 movies, 20 plays and eight TV shows. The complex will house a shelter and community center for women and LGBTQ homeless youth. âI tell you what Iâm most excited about next is that pulling this next phase off is building a compound for trafficked women, girls, homeless women, LGBTQ youth who are put out and displaced,â Perry told CBS This Morning. âA beautiful place⊠where theyâre trained in the business and they become self-sufficient, they live in nice apartments, thereâs daycare, thereâs all these wonderful things that allow them to re-enter society and then pay it forward again. So, thatâs what I hope to do soon.â
