Freeway is on his way to recovery. Philadelphia rapper Freeway, real name Leslie Edward Pridgen, underwent a kidney transplant several years after initially being diagnosed with kidney failure. The 40-year-old posted a video to Instagram Tuesday, announcing that he’d undergone the procedure and it had been a success. “What’s up everybody? Thank y’all for the prayers and all your support. Everything went well, the surgery went well. I’m in recovery,” the “Flipside” rapper said. “God is good. I got the new kidney. The doctor said everything is fine. Thank y’all man, I really felt the prayers. It meant a lot.” On Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 5), reps for Freeway have announced that the rapper has successfully undergone his kidney transplant surgery. “It gives me great pleasure to announce Freeway’s surgery was a success," the rapper's manager Sherman Byers said in a statement. "He is now in recovery. He thanks you all for your prayers!"
