Singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman is suing Nicki Minaj for copyright infringement. Chapman's lawyer told Billboard that Minaj used the lyrics and melody of Chapman's 1988 song "Baby Can I Hold You" on her unreleased "Queen" track "Sorry." The lawsuit states the "Fast Car" singer denied multiple requests to sample her song for Minaj's new album, "Queen." The day the track was played, Nicki tweeted, "Sis said no," which, according to the lawsuit, refers to Chapman's denial to her request to use "Baby Can I Hold You." Chapman alleges Nicki Minaj gave it to Funkmaster Flex who played the song on the radio and It was also played on "The Breakfast Club" with Charlamagne Tha God. Chapman is suing for unspecified damages and wants to prevent Minaj from releasing "Sorry" commercially.
