Netflix has renewed their hit series, “Dear White People,” for a third season. The announcement was made in the form of a video featuring Giancarlo Esposito, the show’s narrator, who also plays a member of the secret campus society, The Order of X. “Dear White People” is a satirical comedy series created by Justin Simien and based on Simien’s 2014 independent film of the same name. It explores racial tensions on a fictional Ivy League campus, mostly through the eyes of the black students matriculating there. Season two dealt with racist online trolls, protests against right-wing speakers, and the Order of X, a secret society of elite black students that activist Sam White (Logan Browning) and journalist Lionel Higgins (DeRon Horton) discovered in the season finale. It looks like we’ll learn more about the Order in season three — or “Volume 3,” as the series identifies it.
