- The White House has decided not to reopen the Obamacare marketplace amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
- That doesn't affect those who've lost their jobs and/or employer-sponsored insurance plans - the law already allows them access to the Affordable Care Act marketplace with proof that they've lost their coverage - it does, however, affect people who decided not to enroll in a plan but want coverage now.
- Special enrollment periods have occurred in the wake of previous situations, like natural disasters. The New York Times reports there had been discussions of doing so in response to COVID-19 but those talks have ended.
