Actor Jason Mitchell will no longer be on the hit show “The Chi” after reports of on-set sexual misconduct emerged earlier this year. The networks President of Entertainment Gary Levine confirmed Mitchell's character, Brandon will be killed off.“There is a lot of great life in ‘The Chi’ and there’s also death in ‘The Chi’ and that’s how we’ll be dealing with it,” Levine said during the Television Critics Association summer press tour Friday. Mitchell has finally spoke out for the first time since the allegations were reported. “I think it’s time to make a statement,” he said in an Instagram comment under a post reporting the news. “To everyone commenting without any knowledge of what’s going please stop…and to all my supporters I appreciate you all and I’m sorry I will no longer be in the chi.. but don’t believe what you read in the media or this fake ass post.” It was revealed in May that Mitchell had been fired from the series due to allegations of harassment from showrunner Ayanna Floyd Davis and co-star Tiffany Boone. It was subsequently revealed that Mitchell had engaged in similar behavior on the set of the Netflix film “Desperados,” leading to his dismissal from that project as well.
