Cardi B Wins 2017 Spirit Of Detroit Award

Cardi B was presented with the Spirit of Detroit Award over the weekend. Many on social media complained that Cardi B is from the Bronx, New York, and hasn't done much in the way of helping Detroit. Detroit rapper Kash Doll and r Royce da 5'9" wasn't too happy when the rapper took home the trophy. "I already got one, it’s just weird nothing against her I just thought u had to put work in the city to get it like other artist in Detroit," wrote Kash Doll on Twitter.

Rapper Royce Da 5’9” posted a video to Instagram:

“I love Cardi B just like everybody else but Cardi B don’t know s*** about the spirit of Detroit. She ain’t even receive the spirit of New York award yet. What the f**k is we giving her an award for about the spirit of our city?”

He continued, "Detroit, when ya’ll gonna cut it out with the goofy sh*t? When are we going to stop being so politically correct? This is not a politically correct business."

"This record industry does not care about Detroit. Where you think the ‘No fly zone’ came from? Where you think ‘ Detroit vs. Everybody’ came from? If we don’t put action behind those words they’re just letters on a shirt. Nothing more than letters on a shirt."

Cardi B's success story continues as the “Bodak Yellow” rapper graces the November 2017 cover of Rolling Stone.
