Beyonce’s legal team has responded to a $20 million lawsuit brought by the estate of New Orleans rapper Anthony Barre AKA Messy Mya. Barre’s estate is suing for back royalties over the use of Barre’s voice in Beyonce’s hit song “Formation.”Beyonce's lawyers say rapper Messy Mya's voice being in her song Formation is reasonable and justified. In April, Beyoncé's legal team filed a motion to dismiss on the grounds of fair use. However, a judge denied their plea in July, ruling that while the audio snippets were short, they were of "qualitatively significant" use.
