The Scarface remake has lost director Antoine Fuqua, who has decided to focus his attention on working on The Equalizer 2 starring Denzel Washington. Universal is still planning on a spring start for Scarface and is on the hunt for a director. Actor Diego Luna has been cast as Tony Montana. Following in the footsteps of Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson’s 1932 drama about an Al Capone-like mobster and Brian De Palma’s 1983 update starring Al Pacino as a Cuban refugee turned Miami drug kingpin, the latest Scarface will focus on a Mexican immigrant in contemporary Los Angeles.
