2 Black Men Lynched by Family After Gun Sale Goes Horribly Wrong
It is crazy the things that we are still dealing with on a daily basis in this day and age.
Stop meeting up with strangers from the internet!!!
A 16-year-old and three others have been charged in the deaths of two black men whose dismembered bodies were found chained to cinder blocks in a Moore, Okla., pond.
Jarron Moreland and Alize Ramon Smith, both 21, were found dead on April 18, four days after they arranged to meet two of the suspects in a Craigslist gun sale that went horribly wrong, authorities said.
Brett Boettler, 16, now faces two charges of murder, while his brother Kevin Garcia-Boettler, mother Crystal Boettler, and her boyfriend Johnny Barker are charged with being an accessory to murder.
The two brothers arranged a meeting over Craigslist to buy a gun from Smith and Moreland, authorities said.
Garcia-Boettler told investigators he was driving a white minivan with his younger brother in the passenger seat when they picked up the two victims.
They were in a grocery store parking lot when Garcia-Boettler said he heard the cocking of a gun. Brett Boettler "immediately turned around and fired approximately four shots from a rifle," according to an affidavit cited by KFOR.
The brothers then called their mother, who told them to drive to a property where her boyfriend helped them remove the bodies from the van, according to an affidavit.
The bodies were then dismembered, covered with tarps and chained to cinder blocks before they were dumped in a pond. After the two victims were reported missing, police traced Smith's messages back to Brett Boettler.
Detectives found dried blood on the ceiling of the van, along with cleaning products around the car.
Jigsaw blades and a chainsaw bar were soaking in a bucket of water, and police later recovered spray bleach, pliers, a hatchet and chainsaw parts, according to a search warrant return.
Barker admitted to removing parts of the minivan, while Crystal Boettler helped clean blood from the inside of the car, the three suspects told police.Moreland's mother told KFOR the anguish she felt over her son's death was only amplified by the fact that he was dismembered.
"It's like my whole world's been crumbled," said Kennetha Moreland. "I can't even have proper closure because my baby is disfigured and I can't even see him."
While the two victims were black, and all four suspects are white, Cleveland County prosecutor Greg Mashburn said "the evidence absolutely shows that this was not racially motivated." -(Jessica Chia, NY Daily News)
