Temptations Singer Dennis Edwards Was Allegedly Abused By Wife Before Death
This just isn't right.
After Dennis Edwards died last week, reports have surfaces accusing his wife of abusing him while he was sick up until his death.
A protection order request against Brenda Edwards alleging domestic abuse was reportedly filed weeks before Dennis died Feb. 1 at 74 of complications from meningitis.Police told CBS Chicago it's unclear if the singer's death was connected to the allegations, but that the incidents in question occurred in December.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department would not confirm to the Daily News, but said detectives are investigating the death of a 74-year-old male.
Brenda allegedly tried to suffocate her husband of nearly two decades by holding his head face down on a bed, according to documents obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
She also reportedly took her husband's hearing aids away from him while he was "bed bound and immobile," according to the protection request, reportedly filed by an investigator with the Healthcare Consortium of Illinois.
In a statement, she denied the allegations as "false and defamatory."
"I loved Dennis, and we were married for 18 years. I would have never done anything to harm him. These allegations are false and defamatory and will be proven as such. Until this is all over, I have no further comment," she told the Post-Dispatch. -(Rachel Desantis, NY Daily News)
