A man from New York turned what was probably a $50 parking ticket into a felony assault charge after he knocked out a traffic cop for giving him a parking ticket.
A brute snuck up behind an NYPD traffic agent on Staten Island and knocked him out with a punch to the throat, cops said Thursday.Surveillance video released by cops shows Divon Cochrane, 27, creeping up behind the 50-year-old victim, who was working in the intersection of Heberton St. and Post Ave. in Elm Park, around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. Cochrane jogged into the crosswalk to catch up with the traffic agent then reached back and delivered a devastating left hook to his throat.The sucker punch dropped the victim, who momentarily lost consciousness, to the ground, cops said.Medics took the victim to Staten Island University Hospital, where he was treated for a head injury and bruising to the neck and released.Cochrane surrendered to police Thursday after seeing media coverage of the attack, police.
