The driver did all he could to stop, but it was too late.
Six kids were standing at the bus stop in Dillwyn early Thursday morning when two of them saw their bus approaching and ran across the northbound lanes.The driver was coming down a hill and tried to stop, but struck 5-year-old Tori Perez and 6-year-old Jaiden Bartee, who were cousins.Tori's mother Sabrina Green told the Richmond-Times Dispatch that she saw her child lying on the side of the road after hearing the accident and rushing to the scene. Jaiden was under the truck.The school bus had its yellow lights flashing but hadn't come to a complete stop when the children ran across the road, according to Geller. -(NY Daily News)
No charges are expected against the driver. This is just a sad story.
