Ava DuVernay Becomes First Black Person on Ben and Jerry's Pint

Don't you love hearing of stories of people making history? Writer and director Ava DuVernay just made history by becoming the first Black woman to grace the pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, according to People. While that may not seem big to some, it really is. Her image is on the pint of a new flavor called Lights, Caramel, Action. And this is pretty dope seeing as Ben and Jerry's is one company that's gets it and is progressive. The new flavor is curated by Ava and it consists of vanilla ice cream with salted caramel swirls, graham cracker swirls and gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough. And the good news is it will be available in dairy and non-dairy options! Ava told People, “There’s no women of color overall [on Ben & Jerry’s pints]. And so they understood that that’s something that they wanted to change, and I’m happy that I was able to be involved in being a part of that change." And while even making history with her image on the pint, proceeds from the sales will go to her non-profit, ARRAY Alliance, that aims to increase the representation of artists and woman directors. Congrats Ava!
