Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson can celebrate. She has been confirmed to become the 116th Supreme Court Justice. She has just made history becoming the first Black woman ever to hold the position. President Joe Biden nominated Judge Jackson to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer, back in February. But if you've watched the confirmation hearings, it was hard to watch. The way Judge Jackson was questioned and some of the questions that had nothing to do with the job she was trying to get, was crazy. There were even videos that went viral, with some Republicans giving Jackson compliments saying how she was qualified, but they wouldn't vote for her. Sounds crazy, right? Well, Senate Republicans Mitt Romney, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski all joined Democrats in voting to confirm. Rep. Romney said Jackson was smart and qualified to hold down the position. She was confirmed by a vote of 53 yeas and 47 nays, according to CNN. I'm still shaking my head at that one. Next up for Jackson will be her swearing in as an associate justice after Justice Stephen Breyer retires at the end of the court's term, which is expected to be sometime in the summer.
