Will Smith Was Told To Leave the Oscars After Slap, He Didn't Budge

Oh the Oscars story just keep getting ugly by the minute. The main thing people can remember the most about this year's Academy Awards is Will Smith walking on stage to slap Chris Rock over a, seemingly, bad joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith. Many people were surprise the award show allowed Will to stay and surprised he was able to still win an Oscar for his role in King Richard. It was the actor's first Oscar win and that night was his big night. However, it was definitely overshadowed by his actions. So did the awards show let him just sit after the slap? Actually, no. According to TMZ, the President of the Academy and CEO both asked Will to leave. He refused. Word is there was yelling backstage between his reps and the Academy officials. This was discovered during the disciplinary proceedings over Will's actions and what the Academy allowed to happen after that. In a letter by the Academy, it read, "Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated. While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently." They still haven't decided how to handle Will, moving forward. But exactly how hard did they try to get Will to leave?
