91 Philly Schools Will Go Virtual This Week Due to Surge in COVID

Starting off 2022, this COVID-19 is no joke. During the first week back from winter break, there were over 50 Philadelphia schools that decided to go virtual because of COVID-related issues that also included staffing issues. According to NBC 10, as of this week, there are now about 91 schools that are virtual this week. Philadelphia School Superintendent Dr. William Hite said, "It’s important to know that shifting any school to virtual learning is always a last resort. Our schools are more than just institutions of learning." The schools principals will communicate directly with students and families in regards to instructions for virtual learning. Also, school staff members are expected to report to work in person, of course unless they are in quarantine due to COVID testing or exposure of have an approved leave. But of course, the district also wants to make sure the kids don't go hungry, so they are will have their number of "Grab-and-Go meal sites available for students who are learning virtually.
