The BET Awards went down back in June, but of course they have a separate show to honor those in hip hop. The BET Hip Hop Awards will go down on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Well Nelly is set to received a prestigious award during the show. According to Billboard, he will receive the I Am Hip Hop award at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards. That's a huge look. Previous recipients include LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne and last year’s honoree, Master P. What's crazy is that Nelly has yet to win a BET Hip Hop Award in competition. Nelly has won three Grammys, four American Music Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, one MTV Video Music Award, three Soul Train Music Awards and four Teen Choice Awards. He is very excited and honored to receive the award. As for the BET Hip Hop Awards, Cardi B, Lil Durk and Megan Thee Stallion are this year’s leading nominees, with nine nods each, followed by Drake with eight. Tyler, The Creator and Metro Boomin tie for third-most nods, with four each. By the way, he recently hit the stage this past weekend during the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
