Philly's International Airport To Get Facial-Recognition Scanners

Well I guess I will be one of the folks trying out something new at Philadelphia International Airport, next month. As part of a 45-day pilot program, three gates at the airport will have facial recognition scanners that cross-check a live image of a person with government photos, according to the Inquirer. There will be about three different brands of scanners for the airport to try out. Don't think it's crazy, but these scanners are meant to help U.S. Customs and Border Protection process passengers and speed up boarding, the airport said. Plus, the scanners help with the final verification of the traveler's identity before they board the planes. All travelers will be scanned unless they ask not to be, but at least there is that option, but they still have to provide proper documentation. After the pilot program is completed, the airport will assess which brand performed best for permanent use.
