Golden Globes Nominations Lack People of Color and Female Directors

There is a lot of criticism about the Golden Globes. The nominations came in and I feel some type of way because Ava DuVernay's "When They See Us" didn't even get a nod. Now don't get me wrong, I am happy for some of the actors who were nominated, such as Eddie Murphy who got a nod for Dolemite is My Name, or even Cynthia Erivo for Harriet. However, there is still a lack of diversity. During the nomination announcements, you had actors Tim Allen, Dakota Fanning and Susan Kelechi Watson (from This is Us) to name the nominees. There were no female directors nominated. There are barely even any women of color who were nominated aside from Cynthia Erivo. Actually there is barely anyone of color who were nominated. But there were definitely some snubs. No one from Ava's "When They See Us" was nominated, nor did the series itself get a nod. I feel like that set the atmosphere as to who will be watching. Are you checking for the awards show in January when it airs on the 5th? You can take a look at the full list HERE.
