We always hear about elementary kids not having food in their homes to eat and sometimes school is the only place they can get a decent meal. But it's crazy to think that a college student may be going through the same thing. Today show did a story about how the price of tuition is going up to the point that college students don't have money to eat or even live. I know lately, I've seen high school students who are homeless, be accepted into colleges. That's a great thing. But what happens when they do need to eat while in college? I know when I was in school, I had a job but also had assistance with food stamps. According to Today, a new Temple University survey found that thousands of college students today can’t afford basic needs like food and housing, and some even end up homeless. Some of these colleges actually have food pantries to help out college students. It definitely sounds alarming. Even here in Philly, when PECO representatives come by talking about their LIHEAP program, I always encourage college students to apply to help with the cost of their living.
