To my dear friends with allergies, I feel your pain. If you've been walking out of your doors lately and looked at vehicles, you'll see how much pollen has attacked. And when I say attack, that pollen is doing just that because it's attacking people. You've seen us walking around with swollen, red and itchy eyes. Then there are the nose drips and sneezes. Well, I am sorry to say that pollen will linger a little more in Philly. According to CBS doctors say this is going to be a bad week for people with allergies because there will be very high levels of pollen hanging around for the next couple of weeks. Oh boy! And with the weather warming up, all I can beg for is some rain to wash it away. And even though it's spring and the weather is nice, some of us can't really stay outside long enough to enjoy it.
So here are a few things you can do to avoid having some of your allergic reactions. Trust me, a lot of these help me out:
- don't walk outside without a pair of shades (they help protect your eyes from pollen and that miserable itching)
- where a hat (pollen will find it's way to your hair and it will linger and cause your allergies to flair)
- try to wear long sleeves or a jacket (pollen will find its way to your clothes and skin, but if you have a jacket on, you protect your skin a little longer where ever you have to go)
- shower as soon as you come in your home to wash the pollen off
- as much as you want that spring air in your home, avoid opening your windows
- make sure the pets that are outside are washed and cleaned when they come in
- as soon as you shower, either throw your clothes in the hamper or wash them right away
- buy some antihistamine eye drops and some eye wash
- if you have itchy eyes, try not to rub, but use a cold compress and set on your eyes
- use an air purifier
