It seems like award season is coming to an end. The highly anticipated Academy Awards went down on Sunday and people were very curious to see who would win the Oscars, considering some people think some movies and celebs were snubbed during the other award shows. Well, even though I was off and on with watching the show, it was good to see some diversity really go down. The show was hostless, which, didn't bother me at all, but baby, black excellence was there in full effect. Regina King was the first award winner for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk as best Actress in a Supporting Role, which, was also her first Oscar. Black Panther even took home a few awards, while making history with Ruth Carter winner for best Costume Design. Production Design went to Hannah Beachler and Jay Hart for Black Panther. Black Panther also won for Best Score. Oh, and congratulations to Spike Lee. He has been in the business for over 20 years and never won an Oscar, until last night. He won for Best Adapted Screenplay for Black KkKlansmen. He sounded so nervous with his speech, but come on, it was his first. And I have to say kudos to Shemiek Moore, too. He won for the best Animated Feature Film, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse and he voiced the character, Miles Morales. So the big win for the night went to Green Book, which, I didn't see winning, but you know what, I was still cool with that because that movie made it the second Best Picture Oscar win for Mahershala Ali, who also won with Moonlight a few years ago. By the way, Mahershala also won for Actor in a Supporting Role. Overall, you have to admit, it was great seeing these wins, although it was like we wanted more.
