If you think Issa Rae is only doing a few things with HBO and her show, Insecure, then you're wrong. According to Variety, her production company, ColorCreative has signed a multi-picture production deal with Columbia Pictures. The even better news about this deal is that it will help other screenwriters. By the way, it's not just screenwriters, but the agreement will work with and back projects from new and diverse screenwriters. Yes! That sounds like we will see diverse nominees in some of these award shows, especially since Issa is known for having said she votes for anyone who was black in some previous award shows. But this definitely comes in time when even actress Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy, who is white, even said there needs to be more diversity with shows and movies. As for Issa's new gig, selected participants, to be announced in the spring of 2019, will work with Issa and the studio to develop and write features based on their original ideas.
