I swear we have been waiting for years to get some new music from Lil Wayne. More specifically, we have been waiting for Tha Carter V. Well it is here. Last week, rumors got out that Weezy would release his album at midnight, however, Wayne never confirmed that. This week, Lil Wayne did announce that he would be releasing his album for his birthday and decided to finally give us Tha Carter V album on Sept. 28. Yes! So naturally, early this morning, I downloaded the album and gave it a listen. Can I tell you Lil Wayne did that? The wait is over and the album is pretty damn dope. Lil Wayne takes me back to some of his old style where you can hear him clearly, but at the same time, I feel like he's giving me a certain feeling. Wayne's flow almost gives me a remorseful sound. That's not a bad thing. Maybe it's the title of the songs, the production and his flow. For instance, the title like Can't Be Broken explains a lot in itself, as well as Dark Side of the Moon and Let it All Work Out. And let's talk about some of the featured artist from his baby's mother, Nivea (yes, she came out of retirement), to the late XXXTentacion. Wayne has even teamed with Kendrick Lamar for a track called Mona Lisa, about women and how they would do anything for him because of who he is, but you even hear Kendrick's flow switch a bit and going into a mad man. But Wayne even put his daughter Reginae Carter on the album as well. Other features include Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Snoop and more. Needless to say, for many people who said Lil Wayne changed his style, and possibly blamed it on the drinks in his red solo cups that had him sounding a bit slurred, Wayne came with it on The Carter V. This will make for some good listening over the weekend!
