Ed Sheeran Faces Lawsuit For Copying Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On"

Look, Marvin Gaye may be gone but his music lives on and his estate is making sure the deceased singer is still getting respect. We all remember the crazy that went down and the lawsuit with Robin Thicke sampling Marvin Gaye. He lost. Well, it seems like Ed Sheeran is now in trouble over a song. The Jasmine Brand reports Ed is facing a $100 million lawsuit for having too much inspiration from Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On." Ed's song, "Thinking Out Loud" is said to have very similar components from Marvin's song, says the family of Ed Townsend, the co-writer of "Let's Get it On." They filed a lawsuit in 2016 against Ed. Now, Structured Asset Sales, a third-party company that purchased 1/3 of the copyright to “Let’s Get It On,” is suing Sheeran for damages and copyright infringement.
