While families and the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are still dealing with the mass shooting at their school, people are supporting them. The main issue is gun control. Though the President held a news conference after the shooting, which, killed 17 people and injured at least 14, he never mentioned gun control. And while he was out there calling Oprah Winfrey insecure, Oprah is supporting the students who are protesting. She vowed to donate $500,000 to the March for Our Lives demonstration that's scheduled for March 24 in Washington, D.C.
George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives.’ These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard.— Oprah Winfrey (@Oprah) February 20, 2018
