POWER LIST: Danny Garcia

Danny Garcia was born on March 20, 1988 in North Philadelphia; his father Angel is also a boxer and introduced him to the sport when he was 10 years old and coached him. After winning many amateur fights and going 107-13, Garcia won the 2005 US under-19 national championship and the 2006 US national amateur title. Garcia's first professional bout was in November 2007 in Atlantic City, NJ vs. Mike Denby where he won after three knockdowns. Danny Garcia kept having success in many of his early professional fights and took home victories against Jesus Villareal, Charles Wade, Amir Khan, Julio Gamboa, Dean Nash, Ashley Theopane, Nate Campbell, and Kendall Holt. His first world title came in 2012 against Erik Morales, where the judges granted him a victory. He became a two division champion boxer in 2015 after he took on two-division champion Paul Malignaggi and dominated until the referee stopped the fight. As a result of winning, Garcia went up against four-division titlist Robert Guerrero for the vacant Welterweight World title and after 12 rounds the judges ruled in favor of Garcia.

To-date in his career (as of February 2020), Danny Garcia has had 36 wins (21 by knockout) and 2 losses. He held the lineal light welterweight title from 2012-2015 and the WBC Welterweight title from 2016-2017. His goal is to be the next great Puerto Rican fighter and he looks to be achieving that goal.
