Aaron McKie was born in October 1972 in Philadelphia, and graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1990 where he helped lead his basketball team to the Public League Championship. McKie went to college at Temple University, made the All-Atlantic 10 team and averaged 17.9 pts per game in the three years of playing college basketball. McKie went on to the NBA, where he was drafted by Portland. His career in the NBA spanned from 1994-2007, where he also played for Detroit Pistons, LA Lakers, and the 76ers. McKie started coaching in 2007 for the NBA and stayed at the 76ers as assistant coach until 2013. He returned to his alma mater, Temple U., to coach the Owls and became head coach in 2019.
