Saturday Marks 10 Years Since The Death Of Trayvon Martin

  • This Saturday marks 10 years since the death of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old Florida teen fatally shot by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.
  • On Feb. 26th, 2012, Martin was followed and confronted by Zimmerman, who was armed, and shot during the struggle. Zimmerman was later acquitted of second-degree murder charges in a case that dominated national headlines.
  • The saga led to the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement, which launched the following year.
